READY TO POP Baby Shower

This READY TO POP BABY SHOWER submitted by Cristina Prusz of Le Partie Sugar is so fun! Such a cute baby shower theme!

Here is what Cristina had to say about the shower-- "Once my girlfriend shared the news she was expecting her second little baby, I immediately contacted our mutual friend Jen (of www.shopsnughaven.com ) and we started planning a little sprinkle that centered around the expectant mama's love of popcorn!

Party Theme:
We centered the party around the popcorn, but also wanted to include some other food options that also were "pop-related". I designed the invitations to be a softer take on the "ready to pop" theme, with delicate transparent bubbles floating from the bottom of the invite to the top, and across the back. This pattern was used in all the paper printables, and carried through to the favor bags.

Food + Decor:
Tissue poms floated over the food and drink table, with the three different blends of popcorn taking center stage. We served a Spicy Caramel, Kettle Corn and a Savory Blend from a local restaurant with kale, corn pops and sea salt. Plus, we included other “pop-related” food items like Cheesy Popovers, Chocolate Cake Pops and yummy Kettle Popcorn Cookies. For the beverages, we popped some bubbly with a Rose Sparkling Wine and Italian Soda Pop, Sparkling Water, Red and White Wine.

Favors:
Since the shower was kept to an intimate group of 12 we were able to put together some special favor bags for each guest. The favor bags were tied with coordinating colored balloons, and contained a mini bottle of Champagne to pop open on 02.29.12 (baby's due date), gumballs, Pop Rocks, Kettle Popcorn and Cake Pops. I designed special packaging for each item in the bag, which coordinating with the invitation and other signage."

Baby Bird Baby Sprinkle

Tweet tweet. A little bird is here today to show you the cutest BABY BIRD BABY SPRINKLE submitted by Kate Petronis of  And Everything Sweet. This party would be a perfect TWEET Heart Valentine’s party, too!

Here is what Kate said about the party- "My sweet friend Katie is pregnant with her third child and due any minute now. Myself and four friends who love Katie to pieces put together this darling bird themed shower to celebrate the newest member of her family and "feather her nest". :)

Isn't this the cutest dang "E" you've ever seen? I hate to brag, but its not often that I see the letter E and say "awwwwwww", but after I made this I whispered a long one. ;) This was one of many DIY projects from this party. Easy peezy...just get yerself a paper mache letter from the craft store and wrap it in yarn...round and round and round until you're done. I embellished with felt birds and felt roses. I'm sure there is a tutorial online somewhere...I just kinda winged it, but I think it turned out pretty cute. (shower decorations/baby nursery decor afterwards...gotta love those two-fer deals!)

Another little DIY project, this wreath was so cute and fun to make and will make a great decoration for Emily's nursery room door. Big thank you to my Cricut machine for cutting out the the letters and thank you to all the wooden doll tutorials I found all over the internet for this one. :)

For drinks we served pink lemonade in mason jars and of course, bottled water. Are you loving the fabric labels? I used leftover fabric from the dessert table (which by the way was $1.50/yard at Walmart!!!...these labels practically paid ME to decorate the water). I just love how I justify all these little expenses...hehe

We set up a clip making station so that each guest could make a little hair clip for baby Emily. I created little instructions for each "step" to help guide everyone through the clip making process. I put out ribbon and clips and each guest covered their own clip w/their ribbon of choice. Then they chose an embellishment to make it pretty. There were buttons, bows, fabric flowers and more.

After food and bow making we sat down to play a quick game of memory (baby themed). This game was so much fun to play. I found the idea and instructions to make the game here. Erica and Ashly did a great job putting it all together for us.

The basic idea of the game is a matching game...when you get a match you get a candy prize based on the match you made. For example...when you find the match to "contractions" you get a box of Whoppers. Epidural match gets the candy Lifesavers. I think you get the idea. Head over here for more candy ideas if you want to recreate!!!

Each guest was sent home with a little treat for their birds at home. These little bird seed ornament favors were not only cute, but totally inexpensive AND useful!! Our poor birds outside need all the food they can get in these harsh winter months (wait, wasn't the high today in the 60s? Whatever...not everyone lives in Atlanta.). Go here for if you'd like to make some for yourself.”

Ribbons And Bows 1st Birthday Party

My next feature goes to this adorable RIBBONS AND BOWS 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Suzanne Olvey of Fanciful Events. What a charming party! LOVE the theme. I'm so surprised I've never seen it before, it's so perfect for a little girl! This party is full of inspiration and is definitely a must see. All the party elements had so much thought put into them. Simply gorgeous, Suzanne! I'm so glad that we are cyber friends. Thanks for your submission!

Here is what Suzanne said about the party- "We recently did my daughter’s 1st birthday! After changing my mind several times and settling on a theme, I finally decided to go with a “Ribbons and Bows” because it seemed like a really sweet theme and also because it incorporated something frilly, girly and fun, exactly what little girls are! The invitation and the theme became realized when my sweet friend Kori from Paper and Pigatils helped me design and come with a sweet and girly invitation. She used bows, tassles, and bunting to give it a taste of girly and sweet! The colors we chose were the soft pinks, soft turquoise and touches of yellow. A sweet color combination to say the least!
We did the party in the middle of the afternoon so we went with finger sandwiches, donuts, pop corn, and lots of sweet desserts of course! We  placed the donuts, powdered donuts and the cupcakes, in pretty snack cups, berry baskets from Shop Sweet Lulu. We also had sweet cookies from The Cookie Jar that tied in beautifully with our theme. The adorable fondant toppers were made by Brittany from Editable Details...she also made the most adorable little duckie pull toy pulling a number 1 to decorate our table. We decided that donuts could use a little decor themselves so we dressed them and they looked absolutely adorable. We had assorted candy such as sixlets, rock candy and gumballs that were in our themed colors. Our gorgeous cake was made by Cupcake Couture. We decided to go with 2 two-tier ruffled cake to mimic the ruffles of little girls pettiskirts and dresses and decided to add a bow for that extra sweetness! It was just dreamy and so pretty! Our cupcakes and adorable little smash cake also came from Cupcake Couture. I saw a posting that Rosie from Sweetapolita, she made a sweet little cake for her daughter and I loved it so much that knew that was what I wanted my daughter to have as “her” smash cake. The dessert table looked so quaint, whimsical, sweet and girly!
For the decor we decided to add some vintage flair. I enlisted the help from the wonderful and sweet Carolyn from Sweet Tea and Linen, she made burlap runners with ribbons going down across the runners to give it that mix between the sweetness of the ribbons and the look of vintage. We had our candy displayed in varying apothecary jars and also we got this vintage yellow tray from Kara’s Party Ideas that displayed our eye catching blue rock candy. Of course how could we not have banners with a touch of glitter and sparkle? Kristy from The Purple Pug made the amazing banners with the right touch and amount and glitter. They added so much to our tables. We also got a vintage looking bunting banner from Starlit Nest that we used to hang our over the year gallery on. I found some adorable little mini suitcases that we displayed our bow shaped cookie favors from Polka Dot Market, they were looked so sweet on our tables and also held the utensils from Shop Sweet Lulu. We also bought our polka dot balloons & bunting banners from Polka Dot Market. The best little decor that we bought from Polka Dot Market were this sweet little pedestals that we used and placed cupcakes throughout our dessert table. We found this really cool antique looking candelabra that we displayed our cupcakes on and found this cool looking window at an antique store that we hung above the dessert tables with poms from Pom Flair. I found the lace umbrellas or parasols on Chasing Fireflies! I also had a dress form with an adorable top from Oh Fiddlesticks! Melissa designed the sweetest and cutest 1st birthday top. It had all the elements that tied into our theme. I decided to to use it as part of the decor because it was so cute and I didn’t want my daughter to ruin it.  I made a rosette decorated initial to add to the decor as well as this ferris wheel that had some of the powdered donuts on each “swing” We really tried to make this as frilly, girly, sweet, and vintage as we possible could and I think we accomplished that!"
